There are many stages in a product life cycle: extraction of raw material, manufacturing, distribution, use and end-of-life. At end-of-life, a product becomes waste, to be managed, eliminated or recycled. Product recycling and reuse significantly limits and reduces its carbon footprint. The approach consists of considering waste not just as simple waste matter but as a new resource obtained from the recuperation of re-useable material, or by repairing it to extend its life cycle, or by giving it a new lease of life (donation, rental, loan, buying/second-hand sale, maintenance…).
